ABOUT

Meet Bryce Williams

As a pastor, counselor, and parent, I know what it's like to feel isolated. At all ages, it can be difficult to connect with others and build relationships. The image of the table has become a symbol of community for me. Around the table we share who we are, laugh with one another, and grow as people.

I have been playing D&D for years. my favorite part of D&D is the power this game has to cultivate space for personal growth and wellness.

My goal is to help others experience the magic of this game and learn more about themselves around the table.

What is D&D?

Dungeons and Dragons is a tabletop role-playing game (TTRPG) where players create and take control of a fictional character to collaborate together in creating an evolving story based on their actions, decisions, and thoughts. In most game styles, a game master facilitates the game. If you have a group of people and an agreed upon set of rules, you can experience the wonder of Dungeons and Dragons. But it is also fun to add dice, maps, and more!

Benefits of D&D

Skills and Therapeutic Growth

01

Social Skills

Social interaction is an art form. It involves active listening, finding common interests, and expressing empathy towards others. These are skills that can be taught and improved over time. Dungeons and Dragons cultivates space for these skills to be practiced.

03

Communication Skills

Healthy relationships begin with good communication.Dungeons and Dragons requires good communication between players. Communication involves both verbal and nonverbal actions that work together to express oneself.

Learning to share thoughts, emotions, and values is vital to wellness and emotional stability.

02

Personal Growth

Over the course of a campaign, players go on a journey not just with their character but as a person. Through table top gaming a player learns new things about themselves! Personal growth creates our best selves!

Fun

Games are fun! It's a core piece of what makes gaming therapeutic. When we have fun the heaviness of life can lift. When clients enjoy therapy, typically the results are greater!

Our Focus At Around The Table

We do not provide therapy services and are not a licensed counseling group. Our focus is to cultivate space for individuals to practice social skills and find a community where they feel accepted.
